The Intellectual Property Office (TIPO) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs has launched the Startup’s Accelerated Patent Examination Program, using patents as the driving engine and innovation as its core, to help startups establish intellectual property protection and technology commercialization mechanisms at an early stage, creating an innovation acceleration chain that links research and development to the market.
Since the program was launched, it has supported startup teams in conducting patent searches and strategic plans, improving the foundation for technology protection and accelerating patent acquisition. Through patent consulting, corporate link, and practical exchanges, it has facilitated multiple cases of technology validation, product collaboration, and market introduction, connecting the power of innovative technologies with real-world applications. In addition, the program guides teams to integrate intellectual property thinking into business development by leveraging intellectual property strategy to enhance fundraising and collaboration opportunities, demonstrating the tangible results of driving innovation with intellectual property.
At Meet Taipei, the “NEXT IS NOW” exhibition area showcases the achievements of the program’s first batch of participating startup teams under three major themes: NEXT TECH|Innovating the Future, NEXT GREEN|Sustaining Progress, and NEXT CARE|Creating for Humanity. The booth also features technology presentations, intellectual property seminars, and industry networking sessions, allowing people to experience firsthand how intellectual property powers innovation. Through this exhibition, TIPO aims to highlight how Taiwan’s startups, backed by strong intellectual property foundations, put the spirit of "NEXT IS NOW" into practice, and step onto the international stage.
