To enhance the international visibility of Taiwan’s innovation and startup ecosystem, the National Development Council (NDC) launched the national startup brand Startup Island TAIWAN at the end of 2019, in collaboration with various government agencies and the startup community. The brand actively connects with global markets to raise awareness and establish Taiwan as a trustworthy platform for startups, aiming to lower the barriers for international expansion and increase the chances of success — the core values of the brand.
To further accelerate the global integration of Taiwan's startups, the NDC initiated the Bridge Plan, which proactively links global enterprises, academia, talent, and capital. This initiative supports Taiwanese startups in connecting with international markets, fostering a globally co-created innovation ecosystem.
To enable Taiwanese startups expand into global markets more smoothly, the National Development Council launched the “Bridge Program” to establish Startup Island TAIWAN Hubs in key international markets. These hubs are designed to help startups build long-term connections with local companies, universities, and research institutions, and to speed up their access to talent and investment overseas.
At present, Startup Island TAIWAN Hubs are already operating in Silicon Valley and Tokyo. With these international bases in place, Taiwan’s innovation ecosystem can expand more rapidly, attract global capital and market opportunities, and strengthen the international presence and influence of Taiwanese startups.
